Hello everyone!! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend , mine was pretty good I did alot of swatching and hanging out with family π anyway today I’m going to be showing swatches and reviews on the julep july collection, I will not be showing Nadia as I decided not to keep that one BUT in her place I will be showing the add on (something blue) PLUS the add on of something blue vs julep Robin which many of us have been wondering how they compare ! I ordered the upgrade box this month because I liked far to many colors to choose just one box :p and as I stated above I also bought the something blue add on π so here are my thoughts and swatches…
First up is juleps Angela – This polish is BEAUTIFUL!! This is my number 1 pick from this collection , it is probably one of the most gorgeous polishes I own! I’m obsessed … Anyway lol application was a breeze went on smooth and covered perfect and evenly in …. 1 COAT!!! Yes 1 coat can you believe it , anyway it’s this rich deep green color with crazy pigmentation , and it’s also got these beautiful emerald green? Shimmer undertones! If your a polish lover you probably know how hard it is to find a truly dark deep color like this without it looking black in most lights and I think that’s what I love best about this one is that it looks that lovely deep green in all lights , as you can probably tell I just can’t stress enough how much I love this one π
1 coat- rich dark green with emerald green shimmer
Next up is juleps Blakely – this one is really pretty , it’s a duochrome and flashes green and purple , and it really does live up to its duochrome effect so in the polish “effect” department I’d say this is a good comeback from the holographic attempt , application was smooth this one is also 1 coat! π
1 coat- green and purple duochrome effect
Julep-Joanna this is a really pretty polish Aswell , not my personal fav of the bunch but very nice non the less, application was good it was almost a 1 coater but then when I went to take the photos for this post there was some visible nail line so I did end up adding a second coat.
2 coats- light blue with a grayish shimmer
Julep-Cassie, I’m so sad to say this one was my first…not so thrilled reaction to this collection
It is very pretty don’t get me wrong and if you like the look of a sheer polish just to add a hint of color and some shine to your nails this one is gorgeous for that, however that’s not my style really so I tried to build it up a bit to a more opaque color (which julep does state this is a sheer polish so it’s not like it doesn’t do what it’s suppose to) but when I started adding my second coat I noticed it started getting really thick and gloppy on top of the first coat , so it was hard to work with a bit and then it was uneven and streaky so I tried adding a third coat and waited in between for the last coat to dry but still it got thick and hard to work with overall it’s a pretty color when it does end up evening out I’m just not sure if its worth the hassle for me as it takes 3 annoying coats to get it the way I like it , but like I said it was very nice with just 1 coat and if you like that style you will probably love this one π
3 thick coats- sheer light peachy coral
Julep-Alaina, this was another nice formula and easy application , I used 2 thin coats for this photo but you could probably get away with a 1 coater if you applied it a bit thicker then I did lovely color and I’ll probably be wearing this one alot come the end of summer-early fall
2 thin coats- very pretty and ever popular “griege” π
Julep-Karen , this was a great formula much better then I was expecting to be honest , it’s a really nice ..I’d say..seashell peachy color with gold and copper shimmer , this would be a great “work or school” polish for those who don’t like to or can’t where to much of a stand out polish during the day.
2 thin coats – peach with gold and copper shimmer
Julep-Faye , this polish REALLY surprised me I actually like it alot more then I thought I would on my skin tone! It looks so so pretty in person this picture doesn’t do it much justice , this was an easy breezy 1 coater Aswell!! Very classy looking and another great work or school color but with a little more color to it
1 coat- deep bronze/gold shimmer
Julep-Tracy, this is one of juleps “sea salt” textured polishes and I have to say this is definitely my favorite of the ones we’ve seen so far, it’s a very very nice blue color and even has some subtle shimmer/sparkle to it , it dries to a matte finish and a rough sea salt feeling texture as it suggests but you could easily change both of those things with a good top coat π
1 thick coat – medium almost “denim” blue with sea salt finish
Julep-Something Blue, I really love this one , and to be quite honest this is more along the lines of what I was expecting from Juleps Robin , not that I don’t like Robin, that’s a truly gorgeous one Aswell,I just thought from the swatches I had seen of it before buying it that it was more like this, anyway.. something blue had a nice formula, applied easily, took 2 coats to make it even and opaque but without any issues and overall a really great polish π
2 coats – light blue
There has been alot of talk about wether or not something blue was just a repackaging of Juleps Robin, or if they were atleast pretty close dupes , so I decided I would throw in a side by side while I was swatching and doing my blog review of something blue , as you can see from the photo something blue is More ….blue… Lol and Robin has more of a greenish undertone, overall I think they are both great colors and even if I had to,I probably couldn’t pick which one I like best because I think they are both gorgeous, an I wouldn’t wanna give up either from my collection π
Julep-Adele, last but not least …the talk of the July collection,Adele , this is a “reflective” top coat which originally was described as a holographic topcoat , holographic it’s not, but still very very cool π I really love the way this looks over a dark polish like most polishes that are duo-chrome or reflective, a dark base just tends to bring out all that it has to offer π as you can see in the photo above wearing Adele alone is not very flattering however I will include a photo below of Adele over Blakely ,( I have already seen lots of posts of Adele over Angela which is why I chose to go with Blakely)but I did try both and it looks great with both of them , although in my opinion if your gonna use Adele it would be best to just use over a dark color of a more “affordable” or readily available polish and save julep Blakely and julep Angela to show off their beauty alone, as they are beautiful just the way they are π
Ok so that just about covers it for what I thought of the July collection , I have tried my best to show the true color of all the polishes in the photos although most polishes really do need to be seen in person to appreciate the true beauty of what they do for your mani π I hope I helped with some insight into this months collection and at the very least was entertaining and kept you interested π until next time happy polishing!! , krystle π xoxo…
